Medical Tourism in Delhi - Hospitals at a Glance

Delhi is fast becoming a hub of medical tourism. This has happend because of numerous initiatives taken by government as well as private sector hospitals to tap foreign patients. The capital of the country has always been the center of advance treatment for the people who come to this city when they fail to get adequete treatment at their native place in absence of infrastructure or speciality facilities. In recent times, our country has witnessed remarkable growth in state-of-the-art hospitals which have attracted patients from neighboring countries as well as from Middle East, Europe and United States. What is Medical Tourism?

The Delhi government has made available medical facilities through its hospitals to the foreigners who have a valid medical visa. Delhi government has 32 hospitals which apart from providing primary health care, are capable of delivering specialized care in the fields of cardiac care, neurology, neurosurgery, oncology, dental care, mental health, traumatology, Ayurveda and Homeopathy.

There are, also, private hospitals and nursing homes that already provide treatment to foreign patients. Highly skilled, well qualified and reputed doctors are available in private sector.

There are 583 hospitals and nursing homes in Delhi as on date in the year 2008. Many new hospitals are also coming up. Delhi has the technology, super-specialists and sound infrastructure to take on international competition.
